| Information Technology Senior Strategist – Systems Management |

We currently have an opening for an IT Senior Strategist with systems management expertise.
Position
This exciting opportunity is for a professional who is an expert in software technologies for managing IT systems, infrastructure, and operations across the enterprise including Data Center Automation, System Lifecycle Management, Virtualization, etc., and is able to analyze current trends and envision future trends.
The Senior Strategist has a “big picture” perspective to help EMA clients increase their product visibility in the marketplace, but can still drill into a deep understanding of specific product and solution requirements. This position does NOT involve any software development (programming) or implementation of products for clients. This position will be located at EMA corporate headquarters in Boulder.
Responsibilities:- Conduct primary and secondary research to analyze industry trends and competitive products
- Work proactively and independently to understand and analyze the strategy, positioning, vision, roadmap, and prospects of relevant vendors
- Write reports ranging from 1 to 30 pages on important systems management topics
- Create and deliver live, Web-based, and pre-recorded presentations (seminars, webinars, podcasts) to audiences of all sizes and levels
- Formulate, analyze, and recommend mission-critical IT management strategies and tactics
- Identify, articulate, and justify, and recommend short- and long-term trends in IT systems management technologies
- Provide thoughtful, in-depth evaluation of products and technologies for the management of systems
- Provide authoritative expertise, analysis, and advice to EMA clients (IT professionals, software vendors, service providers, and investors)
- Maintain personal expertise in a broad range of strategic initiatives and issues in enterprise management
- Travel for client consulting, speaking engagements, and conference attendance
- Provide content for publication in industry journals, from one-off quotes to regular articles and columns
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Represent EMA’s research and strategies effectively at a senior level
Work with EMA Account Managers, Marketing, and other staff to build new business opportunities, and expand existing client relationships
- Be accepted by EMA clients, journalists, and other experienced IT professionals as an expert or “guru” in systems management
Qualifications:- Bachelor degree required
- Minimum of 10 years experience with systems management software
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Significant applicable experience with several (or all) of the following:
- data center management
- IT automation systems
- mainframe systems management
- virtualization
- client lifecycle management
- server lifecycle management
- business analysis
- risk assessments
- data center migration
- server administration
- software distribution
- release management
- database management
- IT process automation
Additional factors:
Experience in several of the following areas will be considered a big “plus” in selecting a person for this position: software pre-sales engineer/consultant, product/field marketing, leadership skills, IT consulting, systems integration, business development, senior IT architect, data center operations, lead systems architect, or senior IT administration.

| Senior Consultant – Configuration Management |
Are you interested in working in an environment where strategic vision is valued? Is your career focused on the Information Technology marketplace? Do you have insight concerning the latest trends in the management of technologies? We are looking for a Senior Consultant with experience in Configuration Management. The Consultant will provide IT assessment and strategic planning reviews for Fortune 500 companies looking to adopt a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This position does NOT involve any software development (programming) or implementation of products for clients.
This position will include on-site travel to customer sites, extensive interviews, and research to evaluate CMDB products and technology for the most demanding customers. The Senior Consultant needs to have outstanding independent research skills, knowledge, vision and strategic planning capabilities to synthesize information about corporate directions, IT maturity (both tools and processes), industry trends, and tool capabilities. This research is then presented as an assessment report in order to provide clear and pragmatic strategic direction for our clients.
Essential Qualifications- 8-10 years of experience with IT Management tools and processes (network, servers, etc.).
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience with at least one of the following four technology vendors: IBM, CA, HP or BMC.
- 1-2 years of experience with CMDB planning or implementation projects.
- Consulting experience is preferred but not required.
- ITIL Foundation Certification is required. ITIL Practitioner – Configuration Management Certification (or higher) is a big plus.
- Some database and data schema knowledge would be helpful.
Essential Skills- The ability to interview clients on technical and non-technical issues.
- The ability to clearly explain technical issues and value propositions to executives.
- The ability to manage projects with a minimum of supervision. The timely delivery of reports is a critical component of this position.
- All candidates will be given a writing skills test. Excellent writing skills are required.
